Translation

Chen Yaozi was good at archery. No one in the world could compare with him at the time. He also boasted on this. Once he used to shoot arrows in his garden. An old oil seller put down his burden and stood aside, looking at him indifferently, and staying on for a long time. The old man saw that Chen Yaozi shot eight or nine of the ten arrows, and he just nodded slightly to applaud the situation.

Chen Yaozi saw it and ran over and asked: “Do you know how to shoot arrows? Isn’t my archery skill also superb?” The old man said, “There is no other mystery, but practice makes perfect.” Chen Yaozi After hearing this, he said angrily: “How dare you despise my archery skills!” The old man said, “I know this truth from my experience in pouring oil.” So the old man took a gourd and placed it on the ground and covered it with copper coins. On its mouth, slowly pour the oil into the gourd with a spoon, and the oil is poured into the hole of the coin, but it does not wet the coin. The old man said: “I don’t have any other mysteries about my craft, but practice makes perfect.” Chen Yaozi saw this and sent the old man away with a smile.
