方位词 ，是表示方向或位置的词，分单纯词的和合成的两类。单纯的方位词是“上、下、前、后、左、右、东、西、南、北、里、外、中、内、旁”。
Locality words are words that indicate direction or position, and can be divided into two types: simple words and compound words. The simple location words are “up, down, front, back, left, right, east, west, south, north, inside, outside, middle, inside, and side.”
合成的方位词由单纯词以下列方式构成：
（a）前边加“以”或“之”。如，以上（Above）、之下（Under）。
（b）后边加“边”、“面”、“头”。如：前边、左面，里头。
（c）对举。如，上下、前后、里外。
（d）其他。如，底下、头里、当中。
The synthesized location words are composed of simple words in the following manner:
(A) Add “to” or “之” in front. For example, above (Above), below (Under).
(B) Add “side”, “face” and “head” afterwards. Such as: front, left, inside.
(C) Opposition. For example, up and down, front and back, inside and outside.
(D) Others. For example, underneath, in the head, in the middle.
在古代，方位词也用另外一种表示，即：
青龙的方位是东，代表春季；
朱雀的方位是南，代表夏季；
白虎的方位是西，代表秋季；
玄武的方位是北，代表冬季。
In ancient times, location words also used another expression, namely:
The orientation of Qinglong is east, representing spring;
Suzaku’s position is south, representing summer;
The orientation of the white tiger is west, representing autumn;
The orientation of Xuanwu is north, representing winter.
